Light Therapy

Light therapy is used at the Melbourne MediBrain Centre as an adjunctive treatment for individuals with depression, sleep disorders, seasonal affective disorders and other problems.

Light therapy consists of the individual being exposed to scientifically chosen light frequency (blue light) at the correct intensity for a period of time (usually 20-30 mins).

It has been demonstrated that this method of treatment stimulates conversion of a chemical called melatonin to serotonin and thus assists in management of disorders associated with serotonin deficiency such as depression.
