Shirley Wilson - Psychologist

Shirley is a registered Psychologist [PRBVic #5951] and an associate member of the Australian Psychological Society. She holds a Graduate Diploma in Family Therapy and Diploma in Alcohol and Other Drug Work.

Shirley has extensive counselling experience working twenty-one years in areas of treatment that explore the emotional, psychological and social complexities that are associated with:

• drugs and alcohol;
• child and adult sexual assault issues, anxiety, depression;
• unresolved grief and loss;
• post-traumatic stress;
• self-defeating emotional and cognitive patterns of behaviour that affect self-esteem, self-worth and confidence;
• anger and stress management;
• marital, family and relationship problems.

The therapeutic approach adopted by Shirley is integrated/holistic therapy that blends elements Cognitive-Behavioural, Attachment, Experiential, Object relations; Schema Therapy, Narrative and Solution Focussed Therapy.

Peter Wilson - Child Psychologist

My name is Peter Wilson. I have been a registered practicing Psychologist in Victoria for the past 15 years. In that time I have worked in a range of clinical, forensic and educational roles as well as having conducted private practice since 1999 in educational and clinic settings.

Presently I also work as a School Psychologist at Yeshivah and Mount Scopus Colleges and am a Visiting Fellow at the University of Melbourne where I supervise a range of post graduate, Masters and Phd students in Psychology.

At the MediBrain Centre I provide counselling, assessment and diagnosis of a range of conditions from the anxiety spectrum, autism spectrum, depression, developmental disorders, school and educational problems and a range of other health related conditions including ADD and ADHD.

I work with all age groups from young children to the older members of the community. The approaches employed include Cognitive Behavioural and Brief Solution Focused therapies. These are found by research to be the approaches that produce the most rapid, measurable and effective outcomes of all the therapeutic treatments.

I also conduct a range of group and relationship services at the Melbourne Medibrain Centre. This often includes counselling and mediation and psychotherapeutic group programs.

I work in close collaboration with Dr Krapevinski and other psychiatrists, general medical practitioners and psychologists that are working with a person. I provide Medicare and private health insurance rebated services. I also conduct services through Work Cover, TAC and other government funded bodies.
